Louise White School Outdoor Classroom Receives Special Gift

On Tuesday, October 1st, fifth-grade students took a trip to the “outdoor classroom” at Louise White elementary, placing rocks in the garden to practice their very own random act of kindness. Jeffrey Nekolny passed years ago and has been memorialized in the outdoor classroom where students are encouraged to take or bring rocks to in honor of his passion for them.
This act of kindness began with Kathy Morgan, a Louise White mother who has not only put three kids through the district but has also substituted at the elementary school before she became a fifth-grade teacher in Aurora. Her class has been discussing Anne Frank’s quote,
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
Kathy had wanted to bring the rocks to her granddaughter Penelope, who attends Louise White, but decided to extend the invitation to Ann Davis’ fifth-grade class as well; to put the rocks in the perfect spot to memorialize Jeffrey. Mrs. Davis’ class was happy to accept and put the rocks that Kathy’s class had decorated in the classroom.
Afterward, Mrs. Davis’ class was able to video chat with Kathy’s class and discuss how their actions inspired them. Mrs. Davis and her class are now planning to paint and place their own rocks in memory of Jeffrey Nekolny. This truly shows how some small single act can inspire others to spread the love.
