Student Ambassadors
Outgoing Student Ambassador/Batavia High School graduating senior Chris Theros was celebrated for his two years of outstanding service. Chris announced that he’ll be heading to the University of Florida in the fall to study finance. Good luck to Chris, and go Gators!
Incoming Batavia High School sophomore Joe Caltagirone will be inducted as the Board of Education’s 2019-2021 Student Ambassador at the August 20 Board Meeting. Joe will be joining incoming senior Olivia Murchie who will be serving her second year as a Student Ambassador in the fall. Get to know Joe >
Report: Building Our Future Together Phase 1 Update
BPS101 has partnered with the DLR Group to develop an Educational Master Facility Plan. The plan includes frequent reports to the Board of Education and the community. Members of the DLR Group presented this Phase I Update to Board Members at the May 21 Board Meeting. A more detailed interactive presentation for all community members will be held on:
- Thursday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rotolo Middle School
- Friday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Rosalie Jones Administration Center
Action: Stop Loss Insurance Contract
The Board approved a stop loss insurance contract with HM Life Insurance Company. After the Board approved the health insurance contracts last month, this more cost-effective proposal was received.
Action: Approval of New Lunch Prices
The Board approved an increase in lunch prices at all eight schools by $0.10 for the 2019-20 school year. Starting in the fall, lunches at K-8 buildings will cost $2.95; lunch at Batavia High School will cost $3.15.
Action: Purchase of Classroom Furniture
The Board approved the purchase of classroom furniture from Frank Cooney Company for elementary and middle School classrooms.
