Emergency Advisories

Emergency advisories are broadcast when schools are closed due to inclement weather or other significant emergencies. We currently employ the following mediums to communicate such information to the community:

  1. Our website's default page, when the broadcasts are active <http://www.bps101.net>.
  2. Messenger, our broadcast e-mail system (subscribe to the "Emergency Advisories" topic).
  3. Our automated phone attendant, reachable by dialing (630) 937-8800.
  4. Local radio and television media (see stations below).
  5. The Emergency Closing Center website <http://www.emergencyclosings.com>.

On days when two or more inches of snow or extreme cold are forecasted, our maintenance staff begins work at 3:00 a.m. The progress of snow removal by the district, city and township crews is then monitored. The decision to close schools is dictated by the weather and road conditions between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. We make the decision to close as early as possible to accommodate your needs.
